On Black Friday instead of fighting the lines at the malls, my family decided to take a trip to Fire Island in Long Island, New York. While there we climbed all 182 steps of the lighthouse (it is important to know I am scared of heights so it was something) and explored the island. I was blessed to be able to shoot during golden hour and not only that but shoot for one of the first times since arriving at college. Fire Island was an adventure and worth every step. I really couldn't have been blessed with a better day to go and a better family to go with. I'm thankful for days like these.

Fort Apache

While on a family trip at Holden Beach North Carolina we took a visit to this place called Fort Apache. It is owned by a man named Dale and is basically a junk yard. Dale gets most of his things from friends he has in the theater business and he rents all of his stuff to people in the same business. People making movies and shows or people making plays will go to Dale's and rent things. There's so many things to see and take photos of I had to go back for photos.
Dale himself has a very interesting story. In the 80s he was working for his family's shrimp company and with the evils of drugs and money he fell into the wrong path. Dale didn't do drugs but he started importing them on his boat. He ended up being caught and doing 10 years.
If you ever find yourself in Supply, North Carolina or near it; stop by and have a talk with Dale. You won't regret it and you may even learn a thing or two.

Eavesdropping

When a person is eavesdropping they just listen to the things people are saying but when having a conversation there's more than just the words. The body language and the facial expressions play a large role in what is happening in the conversation. This photo was taken while these two girls were talking and gossiping and while you can't hear the exact words the idea of what is happening and of what is taken place in their conversation can be seen by the girls facial expression.

New York City

On Monday I took a school trip to NYC to explore and take photos. I had no specific ideas of anything to find and just took random pictures of what i found interesting. These are just a few of the images I took on the trip.

Breadth

This first image expresses the idea of font, texts, and signs. The reasons how it expressed this idea is clear. I took this image while walking past this sign as just a quick "hey that looks kinda cool" shot not expecting to like it as much as I do.
This image expresses street scenes and graffiti which is very obvious as to why. I was very unsure about this image when I first took it but I kept going back to it mainly because the coloring.  The strong orange attracts my eye and keeps bringing me back to it.

I chose this image to express unusual perspective because, unless you commonly lay on the ground, this is not how you would usually see a caterpillar. It's a view that doesn't seem so abnormal at first but the focus solely on the caterpillar and the angle is not the normal view.

This image represents directional lines which I think is relatively obvious as to why. The buildings create the lines that cause your eye to travel down to the cars. The cars then create another line that causes your eyes to travel across the scene leading to the girl.

Winter Moment

They say a story is worth a thousand words mainly because there's a story. The story to this is I was at my grandparent's house and wanted to test out my new lenses I had gotten for Christmas. I decided to go into her sewing room. It has been and probably always will be one of my favorite rooms in her house, I have so many amazing memories from there spending time with my grandma as she taught me to sew and started my creative spirit. I could go on for a thousand words about this room but I won't....for now.
